Barry J O’Gorman is an independent advisor working at the intersection of strategy, finance and technology. My focus is on helping organisations use technology to deliver meaningful Business Advantage through Technology — be that by clarifying strategic direction, strengthening information security and IT governance, improving data and analytics capability or supporting ERP and digital transformation programmes.

I combine the disciplines of Chartered Accountancy and Computer Engineering with experience as CIO, CFO and consultant. Over my career I have worked with engineering and data centre consultancies, healthcare and pharmaceutical organisations, distribution and supply-chain businesses, public and semi-state bodies and financial services. I bring a practical, governance-led approach and a strong understanding of what it takes to deliver change safely and effectively.

Background and Experience

Over the past 40 years I have worked in senior leadership roles across engineering, data centre, healthcare, pharmaceutical and distribution environments — as CIO, CFO and consultant. I have led and advised on strategy development, financial planning, ERP programmes, IT governance frameworks, information security initiatives, analytics and business intelligence and digital transformation.

I understand real-world delivery challenges: legacy systems, limited resources, unclear accountability and pressure to deliver change at pace without increasing business risk. My role is to help clients navigate these realities with confidence, clarity and good governance.
